DESCRIPTION:Mike Picos (b. 1991\, New York City) is a painter whose work explores education\, personal history\, and memory through pattern\, abstraction\, and found imagery. Drawing inspiration from educational toys\, puzzles\, and video games\, he examines the interplay between painting and other image-making systems that shape our perception of the world. Picos earned his MFA in Painting from the Yale School of Art (2024)\, an MAT in Art Education from Queens College\, CUNY (2019)\, and a BFA in Studio Art from Cornell University (2013). His work has been exhibited in New York\, New Haven\, Miami\, Beijing\, and Fort Worth. His upcoming solo exhibition at Jennifer Terzian Gallery in Litchfield\, CT\, opens on March 29\, 2025. My work can be found at www.mikepicos.com The Visiting Artists program is a core part of the Anderson Ranch Arts Center experience\, welcoming contemporary artists across disciplines to work on campus through residencies and special projects. Artists receive dedicated time\, space\, and technical support to develop new work and advance their practice. Visiting artists engage with students and residents through studio visits\, critiques\, and public lectures\, creating a meaningful exchange that enriches the Ranch community and the broader public.
